 NOMINATIONS of candidates to contest the Local Level Government elections kicked off on a high note in Manus, said provincial election manager Pakop Posangat.

“Our electoral roll has arrived from Port Moresby and we now await funds for the elections and Manus province is good to go into the 2013 LLG elections,” Posangat said.

He said as soon as he declared nominations open last Thursday, there were long queues at the 12 LLGs as people rushed to nominate their candidates.

“However no females have come forward as yet to be nominated or made their intention known to stand for the two seats in the LLGs.” Posangat said.

In the Aua/Wuvulu LLG, there were three nominations for the presidency and eight for the ward councils. 

In the Nigoherm LLG, three contestants have nominated  to contest the president’s seat and five for the council wards. 

In the Bisakani/Soparibeu LLG  10 contestants will vie for the president’s seat and 20 for the council wards.

In the PNKA LLG 10 contestants will vie for the presidency and nine for the councils wards; 

In the Lorengau Urban LLG, 12 contestants will vie for the mayor’s seat and one for ward councilor.

In the Lelemadih/ Bupichupeu LLG, one candidate has nominated for president while there was yet to be any nominations for the council seat.

In the Los Negros LLG, two have nominated so far for the president’s seat and three for  the ward council seats.

 For the Penabu Nali Sopat LLG five  contestants have nominated so far for the presidency and five for the council wards.

In the Tetidu LLG two contestants have nominated so far for the president’s set and none yet for the council wards.

In the  Pobuma LLG, seven have nominated to contest the president’s seat and 15 for the council wards.

In the Balopa LLG, six people have nominated to contest the president’s seat and five have nominated for the council wards.

In the Rapatona LLG, ten contestants will vie for the president’s seat and nine for ward councilor’s seats.
