Manus soccer marred by violence

DISPUTES are normal in Manus soccer and the finals of the Governor’s Cup currently underway are likely to deferred tomorrow.
The Rapatona and Andra match was called off after the supporters assaulted a linesman.
Both teams drew 1-1 when Andra scored the second goal but that was disputed by supporters who claimed it was an offside.
When the referee awarded the goal, supporters assaulted him and he was replaced. When play resumed, Andra players walked off forcing a the call-off.
The second game between Western Islands and Lorengau 3 was a one-sided affair with Lorengau thrashing the other team 7-0.
The women’s top four will see Rapatona taking on Los Negros and in the second game Pokanau will take on Lorengau. Games continue today at Prince William Oval, Lorengau.
