A LOCAL level government in the Wewak electorate, East Sepik, will now have its feeder roads maintained, thanks to the quick intervention of Wewak MP Dr Moses Manwau.
Manwau presented a cheque for K25,000 to the people of Manuwara, in the Turubu local level government, to maintain feeder roads in the electorate.
The cheque was endorsed by the joint district planning and budget priorities committee, with money drawn down from district services improvement programme funds.
Ward member Moses Yombiwa said the Wangin to Manuwara road had been neglected for the past 40 years and was not accessible until a few weeks ago.
He said people had to walk from as early as 2am to get to the next village to get to town.
He said the road linked Wewak and Kubalia districts and was one of the first to be built manually by people.
The presentation is a first part payment made to Summit Agriculture Ltd, which will complete grading the 13km road before laying gravel to it.
