THERE will be no more jobs for employees at National Cultural Commission as it merges with the National Museum Arts and Gallery, according to Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Justin Tkatchenko (pictured).

Tkatchenko said manpower at the commission would be trimmed to a skeleton staff before it was abolished. He has written to Public Service Minister Sir Puka Temu to strengthen the amalgamation of the two State agencies.

“This is in line with an NEC decision to merge Government departments to ensure efficiency and productivity, besides savings that could be better committed to real work for real results,” Tkatchenko said.

“The duplication of roles over time has cost the State money.

“There will be no more jobs for boys, which seems to have been the norm over the years.”

“We are looking at saving the State about K4 million from this merger, under one board and one director.

“That works in perfectly with our efforts for efficient, effective and productive promotion of our arts, culture and heritage.”
