Mapex Institute Kokopo plans expansion

MAPEX Institute’s Kokopo campus in East New Britain (ENB) is looking to secure land to expand its operations.
The institute wants to build more classrooms and dormitories for students in the province as well as in the New Guinea Islands (NGI).
Mapex chief executive director Marcus Palem Kara said youths were tomorrow’s leaders and entrepreneurs who would contribute effectively towards the development of Papua New Guinea.
Speaking over the weekend in Kokopo during the official handover of a new school bus, Kara said they looked forward to creating more partnership with communities, business houses and the ENB government.
“We will be doing more community service such as cleanup programme for free in Kokopo, partnering with schools in sponsoring dux awards with laptops and cash and giving full year scholarship to the unfortunate,” he said.
Kara said the issue of technical skills shortage in the areas of technical vocation education training was an important issue in the country and they are doing their best to address the issue.
