Mapex plans expansion

Education

MAPEX Training Institute is planning on securing land in Lae to build dormitories for its students from Mamose and the Highlands, chief executive officer Marcus Kara says.
Speaking during the second graduation for business studies and third graduation for plant operator and motor vehicle driving courses in Lae on Friday, Kara said since Lae was a central location of the two regions, school leavers and youths would be trained by Mapex to promote the “zero drop out” policy.
“All these will be possible through partnership arrangements with the public and private sector organisations, local MPs and development partnerships such as the partnership we currently have with the Morobe government,” he said.
“All these can come about because of commitment, trust, faith and determination, with the support from all stakeholders.
“Securing of land and building to set up campuses and marketing is not that easy.
“But with the help of some of the stakeholders, especially the Morobe government and our local business houses, we have come this far.”
Kara said Mapex had been actively participating in community outreach programmes such as taking part in community projects to meet some of the Vision 2050’s pillar – social and economic development, and human capital development. He said by the end of the year, they would establish a campus in Vanimo where the West Sepik government had already endorsed and allocated K500,000 to set up a new Mapex campus. “So far so good,” he said.
“We have graduated 5,000 plus students in different courses we offer and half of these students are now working with public and private organisations.”
“That’s what Mapex can do for its country through its national and international connections.”
