Marape accused of being inconsistent with decisions

PRIME Minister James Marape has been accused of being inconsistent in his decisions after calling for an immediate investigation into the mysterious arrival of an Australian-registered small aircraft on Sunday.
Opposition Leader Belden Namah said Marape did not call for any investigation when a private jet carrying Chinese tycoon Chen Mailin arrived in Port Moresby on June 21 and left again after two days without observing the 14-day quarantine requirement.
“It is interesting that (Marape) is now calling for details of the Cesna 402C that crash-landed at Papa-Lealea outside Port Moresby (on Sunday) when he never bothered to trace the flight path of the private jet that landed in Port Moresby and took off without the normal checks,” Namah said.
“Marape cannot have one law for himself and his friends and another for the rest of the country.”
Marape had called on the Australia Federal Police to help their local counterparts in finding out who the owner of the small aircraft is, the identity of its pilot and what cargo it was carrying.
Villagers near Papa Lealea raised the alarm on Sunday afternoon after watching the aircraft circling the area before disappearing.
They later found the wreckage.
Members of the AFP and the local constabulary visited the crash site this week.
There was no sign of the pilot or any passenger and cargo.
Namah said the same urgency in investigation should have been done of the private jet.
