Marape boosts Tari police

POLICE in Tari, Hela, will receive additional allowance, insurance, medical cover and free martial art classes to address law and order issues in the province.
This is a new initiative of Tari-Pori MP James Marape, who is also the Finance and Education Minister.
Marape revealed his initiative during independence anniversary celebrations in Tari yesterday where he presented three vehicles, 16 Israeli made assault rifles and 10 pump action guns to police in Tari.
He was in turn honored with a 38 gun salute from members of the disciplined forces during a parade.
Marape appealed to the people to support the work of police to maintain law and order and make the communities peaceful and safe as he would do the same to commit his leadership to strengthen the work of police and law and justice sector.
“Securing of Tari is strategic for both Hela and PNG because it is the business, social and administrative hub of the multibillion kina PNG LNG project of Hela. We have to address law and order. You give us law and order environment and I promise you combination between national and provincial government will bring development to heal and Tari Pori,” he said.
Highlands regional police commander Teddy Tei commended Marape for supporting police work, stating that law and order were prerequisites for development.
Provincial police commander Jimmy Onopia, who was received the vehicles and guns, also thanked the minister for assisting them.
