TARI Pori MP James Marape can still be appointed as the alternative government’s nominee for prime minister.
Sinasina-Yongomugl MP Kerenga Kua, who is the Shadow Attorney-General, said although the vote of no-confidence has been withdrawn and the subsequence withdrawal of Marape’s nomination, he still qualifies and could participate in the process of appointing a candidate for the prime ministership.
“Marape can take part as he is very qualified as candidate for the prime minister as one of the young leaders who has the potential,” he said.
Kua said Marape’s withdrawal as the alternative prime minister did not mean that he was ruled out completely.
He said he could still participate as he has the big number of Members of Parliament on his side.
Abau MP Sir Puka Temu thanked Marape for accepting the collective decision to withdraw his nomination.
“All of us supporting James Marape and being very strong supporter of the young leader who was nominated to be the alternative prime minister and announcing to with the nominate show the level of leadership I aspire to and the decision by Marape as honourable. I support the young man as one of the senior young leaders of the country,” he said.
Kua is inviting those on the Government side that want to participate as the alternative prime minister to move over and make their intention known.
