Marape commended

Letters

PRIME Minister James Marape deserves an applause for willing to take pay cut by 20 per cent as appeared in The National yesterday.
Marape has created history in PNG by announcing his pay cut and if executed this will go down well in the history of PNG in all time.
You are one in those many prime ministers around the globe to be man enough to announce 20 per cent of your pay cut.
Kids of this generation and generations to come will remember the only prime minister who had his pay cut by 20 per cent is none other than Marape.
It was in my last Letter to Editor that I wrote urging prime minister to set precedent by having 10 per cent cut to his perks and privileges and donate those to other needy areas as a way to show ‘Take back PNG” should start first from Parliamentarians.
John F Kennedy once said: “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”
Prime minister, once again you have shown and demonstrated pleasant demeanor and we hope and believe that rest of the other Parliamentarians as well as other CEOs and executives should follow the suit.
We look forward to seeing some improvement in the economy with some of your bold decision made in line with making “PNG the richest black Christian nation” and that is the way forward.

Way Forward
