Marape’s govt making solid moves

Letters

PLEASE let me express my views in contrast to the way others see the Pangu Pati led government six months into office.
To appreciate the general trend of politics, the previous governments had centralised politics in a handful of kitchen cabinets.
This government might do the same which only time will tell.
However by observing the current government policy trends, decisions and the way the prime minister articulates his way-forward visions; the PM has the potential to break the political hoodoo in the corridors of power and transform PNG for a bigger, better, healthier and a transparent future.
A future that is more focused on the 8 million peoples’ interest, irrespective of where we come from.
Comparing previous governments, this government appears more patriotic to national development values, based on the National Goals and Directive Principles.
It’s a government set to rejuvenate sense of national pride and patriotism and focus more on collective interest than regional nor ethnic biases.
And thinking louder, I guess that was Pangu’s initial dream of uniting a country of diverse cultures in one nation through equal service provision and participatory democracy.
Forty five (45) years on, when it’s almost gone to the dogs, when all systems collapsed with high level of systematic corruption, Pangu has returned through PMJM!
Lets give the young Huli Man time to prove us (the 8 million people) – he cares for us all.
No policemen should be talking now because you have already compromised your constitutional independence under the previous autocratic regime.
Where have you been when an autocratic regime almost brought this country to its knees?
You were one way or the other, fed from the same regime and kept quit all these time when every policemen and women know, you have the constitutional power to investigate and make arrest.
The Police Commissioner doesn’t control these powers, you compromised your constitutional powers of arrest and investigation.
Perhaps the only division that worked which deserve credit is the director of the Fraud Office detective chief superintendent Matthew Damaru and the team.
The Fraud Squad “Boss” single handedly upheld the principle of rule of law and fought the autocratic aggression calmly and, did it very confidently a kept the countries dreams alive.
Pangu has re-surged in PMJM to continue to fulfill the Pangu dream for PNG when it first got independence 1975.
As articulated and educated as he is, the prime minister who reads the Constitutional Planning Committee Reports and the National Goals and Directive Principles knows the basic principle pillars of development in PNG.
And if you follow him closely, he is quickly building a new but a transformed development platform, which many governments embroiled in their own egocentric power-play have failed to address.
He is slowly but surely breaking the political hoodoo in the Waigani corridors of power.
The political heavy weights are awestruck and maybe asking what is happening but, hang on!
The Prime Minister’s new focus on SME’s and skills of citizen and accessible school fee loans to students is the very solid platform this government is putting forward.
Ten to twenty years down, many of you will recall my article and commend the humble Huli’s trans-formative polices that will work for PNG.
Ups-killing of the workforce to tap into the vast opportunities created by SME and the complementing enablers of prioritised TVET and Student Loan scheme is the way to go thus shall surely transform PNG.
And very soon the government may reform all outdated laws in the natural resource sector which is a major issue, and we should surely “Take PNG Back”.

  • Koreken Levi, you have quite rightly put pen to paper what good thinking, longsuffering PNG people have in their minds. Thanks for expressing this for the grassroots. There is hope flickering.
