Papua New Guinea’s Marcia Tere-Apisah and Fiji’s Tarani Kamoe and are the latest players to be offered scholarships by the International Tennis Federation to study at the Georgia State University in the US.

Kamoe is Fiji’s top ranked junior player with a world ranking of 427.

Fiji Tennis Association executive member and national coach Naga Reddy said it was good to see another local talent rewarded with an overseas scholarship.

He said the duo would leave for the US next month.

“Tarani is one of the frontrunners for the spot in the national team for the 2015 Pacific Games in PNG,” Naga said.

“While in the US, Tarani will be able to enhance her skills playing in higher level competitions. We are hoping to field a strong team for the Pacific Games.

“Our juniors like Ruby Coffin and Mulan Kamoe are getting stronger and they will be knocking on the national team doors in a few years.”
