A THANKSGIVING mass was held in honour of retired principal Sister Angela Taylor’s 25 years of service at Marianville Secondary School in Port Moresby.
She served as a teacher and principal at the school during that time.
The chief celebrant of the mass was Bishop Rochus Tatamai with Fr Joseph Vonuk.
“The assembly hall was overflowing for mass and it was a very nice day,” Sr Angela said.
The mass was attended by students, former students, parents and some principals from around Port Moresby.
The mass was followed by morning tea and entertainment staged by current and former students.
“The girls and the staff did a great job to organise this day,” Sr Angela said.
Sr Angela was at Mainoana High School before coming to Marianville in 1994 and became principal in 1995.
One of her first tasks was to build a library which she said was necessary for any school development.
Sr Angela retired as principal at the end of last year and handed over to deputy Monica Kianga.
She is helping the school with swimming classes and other activities.
“The construction of the swimming pool in the school is also good because all the students have to learn to swim,” she said.
Taylor will be heading to Australia for a six-week training course before returning to the country.
