Marijuana worries lone cop

POLICE are worried that the rise in the cultivation and use of marijuana will contribute to the rise of crime in the Leron-Wantoat local level government, in Markham, Morobe.
Homebrew-making and drinking are also on the rise, said Constable Jeffrey Roplaen.
He is the only policeman serving the whole LLG.
Yesterday, he announced the arrest of a 19-year-old man from Wantoat with 73 K10 packs of dried marijuana in his possession.
“People there are capitalising on me as I am the only one serving the entire LLG,” Roplaen said.
“The transportation of this illegal drug from Wantoat is either by road or by tubes to float down on the Leron River down to Lae.”
