Marine, insurance officers give evidence
NATIONAL Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA) general manager Chris Rupen appeared briefly before the Commission of Inquiry yesterday to give evidence relating to the sinking of the mv Rabaul Queen on Feb 2.
Rupen produce two boxes containing documents as well as giving an acknowledgment letter supporting his summons before the commission.
Pacific Insurance Group Ltd (PIGL) chief executive officer Paul Affleck and his marine underwriter manager Martin Sengali were also summoned to produce documents as evidence before the commission.
PIGL were represented by Francis Griffin of Young and Williams.
The general manager of AON, George Lifu, was also summoned to produce documents as evidence to the commission.
The mv Rabaul Queen was insured by the two insurance companies.
Rupen will present his evidence on Tuesday May 22 while the two insurance managers will appear today.
