Market gives new option on to buy EasiPay

Business

LOCAL entrepreneurs are now using newly-designed platform Jaive Market to sell EsiPay credits for electricity and other services using smart phones.
Founder Jaive Smare told The National that he was motivated to design the product to address the ongoing theft of electricity supply in the Highlands.
“I was working on a product to address theft of electricity through illegal connections in the Highlands, especially Mt Hagen and also fixing some of the EsiPay process to make it simpler,” he said.
“I saw a woman robbed in Mt Hagen while on her way to pay for electricity with her child and it changed everything for me.
“I helped out and got some electricity credits for the woman.
“I came up with the platform to help local entrepreneurs like betel nut sellers or even mums at home or office workers to sell EsiPay credits and other services to their own customers.”
Smare, who is from Western Highlands and West Sepik, said any local entrepreneur who wanted to sign up to the platform could request to him via Facebook.
“It’s a good initiative, because it brings the services to the people and it’s more convenient and safer,” he said.
“There are several applications and I have built the full platform using the smartphones.
“It’ uses very little data. There were already existing services but there were still problems.
“I modelled it just as an option for people to deposit or bulk-buy and pay the credits upfront sell and make their commissions.”
