AS students start classes, parents such as Martha Kumba, had been working hard to make sure their children have everything they need.
Martha, 35, said her daughter Priya Kumba, 12, would be in grade four at the St Edward Ambang Primary School in Ambang, Banz, Jiwaka.
Her 14-year-old daughter is staying in Port Moresby with relatives.
She does her own farming, growing enough for her and Priya who will be repeating grade four because of the Covid-19 and school fee problem last year.
She sells her pigs to raise funds for Priya’s school fee.
Priya feeds the pigs, takes them out during the day and ties them in the bush. In the afternoon, Priya brings the pigs back to their house. Martha bought her daughter’s school uniforms, stationery and masks for Priya to start school.
