Mass wedding at Rigo sees 8 couples tying the knot

EIGHT couples were showered with matrimonial blessings on Saturday – the first at St Joseph Gabagaba Christian Community in Rigo, Central.
Lotu communion minister Chris Manggin told The National that it was a memorable event because it was the first of its type of marital blessings to be given to eight couples.
He said in the Catholic Church, marital blessings were one of the sacraments and the couples were required to undergo this before receiving Holy Communion.
Manggin said with the help of the “Couples for Christ (CFC)” ministry, who undertook the couples through 12 sessions of counselling and encouragement.
“It’s a mass blessing for marriages for the couples because they have longed for it,” he said.
Brother Orlando Antonio, who is part of St Joseph’s Boroko, has been involved in such programmes and he was excited to be part of the activity, especially in a village setting.
“It’s not only our job in the government, but it’s best that we have extended our services to the community in Gabagaba,” he said.
“Monitory is secondary but the service to the others, especially those who are in need and that’s what God wants us to do.”
Angle Payong, from the Philippines, and his wife Muraka, from Gabagaba, were among the eight couples who received their matrimonial blessings.
“Very nice, and it’s the first experience in Gabagaba’s first wedding under the Catholic Church through couples for Christ,” he said.

  • PROUD OF YOU ALL TO DO THE SOLEMN PROMISE IN THE CHURCH. ITS A BLESSING AND YOU THE BACKBONE AND THE FUTURE OF THE CHURCH. HOPE THAT MORE PEOPLE CAN TIE THEIR KNOT AND PROMISE IN THE CHURCH.

  • Great to see young couples making their vows and upholding family values. This is the foundation for growing healthy, smart, wise communities going forward into the future. We like to see more of our young people follow the path you following. God will richly bless your homes
