Matava wins restraining court order
The National, Monday July 13th, 2015
ACTING provincial administrator for East New Britain Wilson Matava has successfully sought temporary court orders restraining his predecessor Akuila Tubal from interfering with his appointment.
Last Wednesday, the Kokopo National Court issued the temporary order obtained by Waisi Lawyers on behalf of the plaintiff, Matava.
According to the order, Tubal, his servants and agents and all relevant state agencies were temporarily restrained from revoking, interfering with, questioning or undermining the appointment of Matava.
Matava’s appointment was gazetted this month.
The interim orders will return to court on Wednesday.
The court order stopping Tubal from causing any problem will pave the way for Matava to be sworn-in into the provincial assembly as the administrator.
“What is going to take place is a normal government activity, which is the process of hiring and firing workers,” Matava said.
“Therefore, the court order will ensure that no one, including the former workers and officers of the provincial assembly from disturbing the process in which a administrator to be appointed in the province and we must respect the process.”
