Mautana Roosters thrash Pirates in Morata league A-grade fixture

MAUTANA Roosters clawed Guava Pirates 26-0 in their Motor Vehicle Insurance Ltd Morata Offseason Rugby League A grade match at the Kone Tigers Oval on Sunday.
The Roosters, who participated in the Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup Central leg and were eliminated in the quarterfinals, returned to the local competition with an improved side.
Try-scorers for Roosters were Albert Kane (2), Jim Tia and Adam Oh while Bob Jerry kicked a conversion and two penalties and Maika Windi kicked a conversion and penalty.
Roosters led 8-0 at halftime and went on to pile on another 18 points in the second half.
The Pirates had no answers for the onslaught and slumped to their worst defeat of the season so far.
In the other A grade encounters, Northern Warriors kept Kniggins Dragons scoreless 12-0, Freeway Magani edged Gateway Sharks 4-5, JV Bulldogs got past 38 Jets 4-0.
