Broncos winger David Mead says Bisbane need to improve their completion rate if they are to stand a chance against hosts St George Illawarra Dragons in Sydney tonight (7:50pm kick-off). The round-13 National Rugby League (NRL) fixture at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium will also see former New South Wales lock forward Jack de Belin making his first-grade comeback after two and half years. Papua New Guinea international Mead told The National yesterday that he was looking forward to the return of Tyson Gamble who missed last round’s Storm loss due to suspension over a crusher tackle. Gamble replaces Milford who has been dropped for the third time this season by coach Kevin Walters.
“We need to complete our sets,” Mead said. “We made too many errors and Melbourne were able to score points.
Gamble brings a lot of good things. “He communicates well and he really showed it in the win against the Sydney Roosters, that’s what he and (halves partner) Albert (Kelly) can do.” The 33-year old said debutant Selwyn Cobbo, who replaces Queensland Maroons winger Xavier Coates, deserved the call-up for the other wing spot. “Selwyn has been playing well at Wynnum Manly and he deserves this opportunity,” Mead said. “He is an exciting young talent and I’m sure he will wear the Broncos jersey with pride.” Meanwhile, prop Matt Lodge (suspension) and Alex Glenn (injury) also return to the starting side in a boost for Walters who has lost New South Wales forward Payne Haas and Coates to Origin duties.
