Media Council launches website

THE new website of the PNG  Media  Council will be a window to global communication, council president Joe Kanekane said yesterday.
Speaking at the launch of the website, Mr Kanekane said: “If we propel ourselves to the next level of media communication, this is where it starts because people go there when they want information.”
He said it had taken a long time to create the website and it was an evolving one, with changes to be made along the way when necessary.
The website, funded by AusAID, cost about K12,000 to set up and will help the council in its work as a watchdog, agenda-setter and gatekeeper in the public sphere.
Executive director Nimo Kama said the council would like to take the website to the next level by using the internet for online communication, education and as a training facility for its members.
