A DELAY in the submission of a medical report forced the Waigani Committal Court to adjourn a rape case.
Senior Magistrate Cosmas Bidardeferred the hearing against Simon Karu Setae, charged with sexual penetration.
According to the police prosecutor, instructions and files had been compiled.
“The only delay now is from the doctors to finalise medical report to the police for submission to the court,” the prosecutor said.
Bidar told the court that medical evidence delayed the final adjournment.
Meanwhile, the court also made a final adjournment for Emmanuel Bonggere and Lemis Lope, both charged with rape, because their lawyers were absent.
Bidar said that both defendants were represented by the same lawyer from the Public Solicitors Office.
Lope was committed for trial in the Waigani National Court after sufficient evidence was found against him.
He was alleged to have sexually touched and penetrated an eight-year-old girl at Hohola in the National Capital District in September last year.
Bonggere and Lope, both on extended bail, will appear again on July 6.
