Meditate upon it and teach

SO far it has been stated that good Bible study includes reading, interpretation and the application of what is learnt.
Two more exercises are important.
One is to meditate on the Scriptures that you are studying.
That helps you grasp the basics as a comprehensive body of knowledge.
Dr John F MacArthur Jnr said: “Meditation takes all the parts and builds them into a cohesive, comprehensive truth.”
Note that meditation is a concept in the Eastern religions and is a vital exercise in Judaism and Christianity. Psalms 1:1-3 imply that a person would be blessed if he walks in the right way and meditates in God’s words daily.
Meditation is like the cow chewing the cud as a part of its digestion process. The ruminant has several stomachs and what it eats is passed on from one stomach to another to separate and absorb the best.
A person who meditates on what s/he is learning has a deeper understanding of the concepts.
Memorising Scriptures is a good way of meditating on verses studied.
Christians who were held in prison for their faith (as in the days of the Russian Gulag) wished for one thing most in those days of hunger, cold and loneliness – the Scriptures. Many of them therefore memorised chunks of Scriptures, including whole books of the Bible. (In comparison, we in the “free world” are too lax.)
The other exercise in really learning the Bible is to teach it.
But you will not teach it properly if you have not studied it correctly.
(I am teaching you with the little I know not because I adhere to every law. I am doing it because I realised that many do not know how to study the Bible correctly – and not know the basic teachings or doctrines.)
Many think the masters should become the teachers. But then there are those who go out and teach others with the little that they know and in the process they master their subjects.
MacArthur said the best way to learn it is the give it away.
“The things I learnt enough to teach you are the things I retained.”
Teachers and good students who attempt to help others learn know this fact.
(It is for this reason that if you are good at something, take the time to teach someone else what you know. You will master it better.)
