AT least 20 businesswomen in the Southern region will be showcasing their products during a two-day expo in Port Moresby from today as a lead up to the Apec meeting on Policy Partnership on Women and Economic in May.
It is being organised by the Department of Community Development Office for the Development for Women.
Executive director Gayle Tatsi told The National yesterday that the expo would lead up to the Apec meeting on Policy Partnership on Women and Economic in May.
The theme of the expo is Showcasing businesses that promote our traditional culture with modern culture for economic growth.
“The expo is for the Southern region, we have invited five entrepreneurs and two government officials from Central, Western, Gulf, Milne Bay and Oro (Northern),” Tatsi said.
“National Capital District alone will have 15 women participating in the expo.
“These women will be showcasing their products such as arts and craft or sewn garments.”
Tastsi said the women entrepreneurs would be judged during the expo and the selected ones would be participating in the Policy Partnership on Women and Economics in May.
She said the expo would also provide an opportunity for those women to start their network, adding that they have largely been working in isolation.
“We are helping them to expose themselves and build network and we hope that they all will be able to make it to the expo.”
