Mekeos are not kanakas

AM not happy with a certain musician whose song” Pasin Kanaka” paints a wrong image of our old people. The artist claims to be from Mekeo, Central, but the portrait he has painted is foreign. I vividly recall the first time I saw our old people chewing buai. They did not spit here and there and the buai husks were put in a small bin so as to avoid littering. So I do not see our old people as “kanakas” and   neither do I see all Mekeo people as such. It is only a handful of people who have adopted this behaviour from where I do not know. I am also Mekeo born and bred and live in Port Moresby. I chew buai but I look after my spittle and husks.
