BOARD of management members from schools in Maprik, East Sepik, have been told that they play a very important role in the development of their school.
This was relayed to them during a two-day workshop organised by the district education advisor.
The workshop aimed to help the members know their roles and responsibilities and the topics covered included planning, resource management and decision making.
District standard officer Peter Kago told participants that all primary and elementary schools in the district must have school learning improvement plan (SLIP) programmes.
Teachers must have enough resources and teaching materials to teach.
Kago said schools would move on to next level every year if these very simple things were maintained by both the board members and head teachers.
“All board members must be approved and registered by the provincial education board,” Kago said.
