Members of congregations reconcile after dispute

A SMALL Lutheran community in Vanimo, West Sepik, reconciled on Sunday after a long division among the church members.
The reconciliation was among the congregations of Calvary, St Jahya and Sera disaster area. It was the third reconciliation.
The first two were conducted outside of church.
ELCPNG head of mission’s desk Ps Timothy Luke when officiating the reconciliation, asked pastors, church leaders and their spouses to shake hands in front of the congregation.
He urged them to be united to carry out the work of the church.
Luke said the devil was provoking disunity, fighting and hatred, but Jesus came to restore families together.
“Church leaders and pastors have a very big responsibility, but disunity and anger has seen the church not progressing,” Luke said.
He said, at the time when the church was facing challenges to maintain its mission areas and continue to carry on with its gospel, unity among church members was crucial to our mission.
