PAPUA New Guinea’s first  Mixed and Men’s Netball Association will start its inaugural season with the first of two 15-week mixed competitions on March 23 at the Rita Flynn Complex indoor courts.

With the aim of encouraging more men into the game, the competition will kick off in Port Moresby and then move to other locations around PNG.

PNGMMNA president Adam Parker said the competition was designed to cater for all levels of skill and experience and has three grades that teams can nominate for — premier league, social A league and social B league.

“PNGMMNA will be taking representative teams to international competitions throughout 2016 and 2017, a national men’s team and a national mixed team, and if we get sufficient interest, a national Under -23 men’s team. Open trials will be called mid-year for males and female players, who believe they have the skills (or can develop the skills) to play netball at an international level,” Parker said.
