TWO men charged with rape have been told to wait for police to complete their investigations.
Central Court Magistrate Marcus Nandape deferred the case of Kasi Sakini and Herbert Melvin of Aivau village in Ihu, West Kerema, Gulf, to Dec 5. Police alleged that on July 28 around 10.30am, Beterlyn John went with boyfriend Paiva Godua to the home of the two men.
After Godua left the house to go to a nearby market, Sakini and Melvin allegedly entered the house and raped John. Her family allegedly had a fight with the family of the two men at the village.
John was taken to the Port Moresby General Hospital for treatment.
Central police raided the village several times in August looking for the two men. John and her family were allegedly harassed by the two for reporting the matter to police.
Police finally caught up with them on Aug 29.
They are remanded in custody.
