THREE health facilities in Mendi, Southern Highlands, are to be upgraded to modern health centres.

Local MP and Vice-Minister for Works and Implementation De Kewanu announced this when he launched a new excavator for the district at the Tente district office last Saturday.

Kewanu told the people that three generator sets costing K30,000 each were purchased for the three health centres at LLG areas of Upper Mendi, Karinz and Lai Valley.

There were plans for doctors to visit the three health centres and treat patients in the district.

“Apart from my first priority  like roads, bridges and electricity, I want people to receive better health services,” Kewanu said.

He said the centres would also serve Tambul in Western Highlands and Kandep in Enga.
