Port Moresby Men’s Softball League’s season proper started on Sunday after the completion of a three-week pre-season.
United beat Brown Eagles in the final pre-season match.
Port Moresby Softball Association president Tony Daple said they were expecting a bumper season this year going by what happened last year.
Daple said in the last season, competition among the top five teams had been quite stiff and they were expecting more of the same in the new season as it kicks off.
On Sunday new kids on the block KC and Avail battled in the opening match won by KC 10-4 while United beat Brown Eagles 7-0.
In the last game which was a reply to last year’s grand final, Yokomo turned the tables on PNG Power beating them 8-4.
In the B grade, Yokomo beat PNG Power, United beat Brown Eagles and Stingerz beat newcomers Mariners.
