Public Service Minister Elias Kapavore says appointments of department heads and provincial administrators are done on merit.
“We maintain the integrity of the selection process and we don’t sway to undue influences. We have strict control integrity on merit-based selection of departmental heads and also provincial administrators,” Kapavore said.
“We don’t interfere with the selection process, this process we maintain. We don’t allow people to influence us. I have given strong instructions to my team that we must respect the integrity of the process and it is important.
“I don’t know who the applicants are as well. And don’t come and ask me or my team for who had applied and don’t try to bribe us because we will not accept it.
“We maintain the integrity of the selection process.”
Kapavore said they were now in the process of selecting provincial administrators for Chimbu, Eastern Highlands, Manus and West New Britain.
Eastern Highlands Governor Peter Numu said that there were rumours that applicants for the EHP administrator were bribing members of the selection committee at the Department of Personnel Management.
