Mermaids stamp their mark

PORT Moresby Netball competition premiers Mermaids and Aroma Coast continued their match on Sunday after the rain stopped play on Saturday.

Mermaids picked up where they left off on Saturday to beat Aroma Coast 66-35 at the Rita Flynn Netball Courts.

In what was to be expected a tough encounter, the game was stopped after the first quarter because of the inclement weather.

The team tipped to beat all-comers this season once again walked over their rivals, proving to fellow premier teams that they mean business.

Mermaids, with the likes of Kapi sisters – Rachel, Nancy and Kapu – Marypaul Beulher and Tau Galewa, led the team into taking the girls from the Aroma Coast apart with a thrashing.

Other games were put off because the rain on Saturday.

The Port Moresby netball competitions will now have to host washout games.

POMNA president Evanelia Kini said the executives would have to decide on a day this or next week to play the outstanding games.

Kini said a normal round of games would continue on Saturday with new fixtures while they took time to consider a day for the washout games.
