THE Morobe Football Association (MFA) will host its preliminary finals and grand finals at St Martin’s Oval in Lae over the weekend.
The games to look forward to will be the men’s A-League finals which will feature a number of National Soccer League (NSL) stars.
PS United meet Bumayong and Suambua face Maps Sentas in sudden-death matches tomorrow.
The preliminary finals will follow straight after with the winners playing Lae Biscuit Poro and All Saints who are on a bye. The grand final will be played on Sunday after Saturday’s results.
Minor premiers Lae Biscuit Poro are expected to dominate in the finals with their Toti City stars.
They will be boosted by Raymond Gunemba, Nigel Dabinyaba, Peter Dabinyaba and Obert Bika.
PS United are also seen as dark horses in the finals. The presence of Morobe Wawens star Moses Kamakeng will certainly lift the team.
“MFA is the breeding ground for Toti City ever since its inception,” Association vice-president Peter Gunemba told The National.
“The association is into its third season. It was a slow start in the last two seasons but this year was a success.
“All teams have been competitive unlike previous seasons.
“We also had a new team, Mixed United, joining the competition. They are Lae-based Highlands players who have put in strong performances this season.”
Meanwhile, Gunemba has commended the International Food Corporation for sponsoring the competition since 2017.
