NATIONWIDE Microbank Ltd (MiBank) customers will now be able to repay their loans or contribute to their savings using Digicel’s CellMoni wallet.
This follows the launch of the product on Friday by MiBank and Digicel Financial Services Ltd.
MiBank chief operating officer Trudi Egi said Digicel had partnered them since 2011.
Egi said MiBank was an existing agent serving CellMoni customers at each of its 16 branches nationwide.
“CellMoni customers can go to the branches and make a cash deposit or a withdrawal,” he said.
He said this also meant that MiBank customers travelling to other provinces that had no access to a MiBank branch or agent could use a Digicel CellMoni agent to continue saving funds or making a loan repayment using the Cellmoni service.
He said a popular MiBank loan product was Esiloans which was a consumer lending product and customers located in places such as Tabubil, Manus or Vanimo in West Sepik, where there was no Mibank branch, could apply for a loan with Mibank using CellMoni.
Egi said MiBank was focused on providing and delivering digital financial services to the 80 per cent of the country’s population who were unbanked and lived in rural areas.
