BOXING patron Ben Micah paid tribute to former world champion and Papua New Guinea Muay Thai athlete Lee Henry Garap who passed away last week.
The 39-year-old’s passing shocked the country’s fight sports fraternity as he was preparing for his next international fight.
Micah said on Sunday that Garap was also involved in boxing at the amateur and professional levels.
“It’s very sad to hear about his passing,” Micah said.
“Garap is a great loss to the fight sports fraternity in PNG.
“A few months ago, we lost boxing legend Martin Beni and now Garap.
“Garap had been involved as a judges whenever Oceania Fight Promotions hosted fight nights.”
Micah said Garap’s legacy would live on.
He appealed to youngsters to learn from such fighters and carry fight sports forward.
