THE creation of a new micro-finance company for Rabaul will address many economic issues faced by the local people..
Preparations for the formal launching of the Mataure Rabaul Microfinance Ltd (MRML) were gaining momentum and the staff of the newly-opened micro bank began work last week.
Member for Rabaul and Justice Minister and Attorney General Dr Allan Marat recently handed over keys of the office building and car keys to the chairman of the board of directors Prof David Kavanamur.
He also welcomed the first batch of employees of MRML.
Kavanamur thanked Marat for giving his group the opportunity and confidence to manage MRML.
“I thank you for the decision you made in giving the strategic direction for the establishment of MRML, which would go a long way in wealth- creation, which is a very important pillar in Vision 2050.”
Kavanamur said MRML was a small enterprise with humble beginnings, stressing that it contributed to the building of a bank in Rabaul.
He said the bank would help people become self-reliant and to take care of their family needs.
Marat, on the other hand, expressed satisfaction at the stage of developments achieved to date on the creation of the microfinance firm.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was expected to officiate at the official launching of MRML in Rabaul on Nov 17.
