Military band invited to Tokyo marching festival

THE PNG military band has been invited to take part in a marching festival in Tokyo, Japan this month.
The band was invited by Japan’s Ministry of Defence to take part in the Japan Self-Defence Force’s marching festival.
Six members of the Japanese self-defence force have been helping the local band members prepare for the festival to be held from Nov 17 to 19.
They will undergo further training in Tokyo before the festival.

A dress rehearsal was held yesterday at the Murray Barracks parade ground.
Defence Force chief Major-General Mark Goina thanked the people and the government of Japan for their “continuous support”.
