Milne Bay loses soccer icon
The National, Tuesday January 7th, 2014
THE recent ruthless killing of a young man in Alotau by his own friends is shocking news to his family and his people in Dobu and Milne Bay.
The Esa’ala people have lost a great soccer ambassador.
As a former player and an admirer of Anslem Adwin, I humbly salute him for inspiring many young Milnebeans to play soccer.
Though you are not around to see the next Milne Bay Cup or participate in the PNG Games as the defending champions, you will be remembered by your dearest and cherished loved ones.
Though I am not from Milne Bay, I am saddened by your sudden and untimely death.
I join your family at this time of mourning.
Only God knows what awaits you tomorrow.
To Adwin’s father, you have lost a shining star, who was supposed to echo the name of Milne Bay far and wide.
Adwin has left a vacuum in the field of soccer and your students will miss you greatly.
