DR Michael Tapo has been confirmed as the Secretary for Education after acting in the position for the past four months.
In a small ceremony yesterday at Fincorp House in Port Moresby, Minister for Education James Marape announced the appointment.
Tapo said he was ready to take up the challenge and work with his team.
“I thank the government for my appointment,” he said
He said he would be training staff at the secretary’s office who would later take control when senior staff members moved on.
He assured Marape the government’s expectations on employment turnover in the department would be met.
