Minister Maru plans trade fair
The National, Monday July 28th, 2014
PAPUA New Guinea will stage an investment seminar and trade fair in Singapore in three months, Trade, Commerce and Industry Minister Richard Maru announced yesterday.
He said the trade fair will pave the way for PNG to showcase its products for potential international markets.
“I have requested my Singapore counterpart and the government of Singapore, to assist PNG stage an investment seminar and trade fair in Singapore in October.
“Objective was to go and market PNG as an attractive investment destination, not only for Singaporean investors but many global companies and countries who operate out from Singapore.
“We are going to invite our manufacturing industry, especially to go and market our products such as coffee, green bean, roasted coffee, cocoa, our coconut oil. We are going to go and market those products in a very big way in Singapore,” Maru said.
“I call on the private sector in PNG to work with the Investment Promotion Authority and my ministry and department to stage the investment seminar and trade fair in Singapore in such a way that we can make a maximum exposure for our country, for our products and also for PNG as an attractive investment destination.
“I will be specifically speaking to the Prime Minister to secure his attendance to travel over to Singapore to open the seminar and trade fair and find time to stay over and meet with his Singapore counterpart – to build bridges, build foundations, which public servants, ministers and the private sector can build from.”
