HOUSING Minister Justin Tkatchenko plans to provide affordable housing to citizens.
He also plans to work with Lands and Physical Planning Minister John Rosso on the housing projects.
“I will be working with Rosso to ensure we get our housing projects for small grassroots people and our citizens up and going,” he said.
“We look forward to creating a housing programme and housing situation for our people.”
Rosso, the Lae MP and Lae City Authority chairman, said providing housing was important.
“I will be working with Tkatchenko. One of our first tasks is to help our little people in PNG acquire affordable housing,” he said.
“One of the biggest things lacking in this country is affordable housing for our people.
“In a way, it’s good that Tkatchenko heads the Housing ministry.
“I’m going to work with Lands and Physical Planning and together we will ensure we give that dream to our people to own homes.
“It’s a huge challenge and we will not be able to do that in one or two years. But at least we are able to put the building blocks in place and (make) it become a reality.”
Tkatchenko thanked staff of the Lands Department for the support that they had given him and urged them to give Rosso the same.
