MINISTER for Finance and Treasury Don Polye has written to secretary Simon Tosali to initiate a formal investigation into the operations of the Border Development Authority.
The investigation would go as far back as 2009 when the authority was established.
“This course of action is deemed necessary as a result of serious allegations been raised on the floor of parliament.
“There is also widespread public concern over the manner in which the authority has performed its mandated functions as set out in the Border Development Authority Act 2008,” Polye said.
He said officers from Treasury’s inspections and investigations branch would be involved in the investigation.
“A report on its findings and recommendations is expected by Feb 24, 2012.
“Immediately thereafter, cabinet shall consider the report and have it tabled in parliament for further deliberation.
“I urge all officers and staff of the authority to render their full co-operation and support the investigation team,” Polye said.
