BUIMO Road Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lae, Morobe, on Sunday received eight land titles from the Lands and Physical Planning Minister and Lae MP John Rosso.
The handing over of the eight land titles was a commitment by Rosso to the people who had resided on government land for more than 20 years.
Buimo Road SDA church received titles to section 266, allotments 1-2 and section 255 allotments 1-6 after struggling to get the titles over a period of 30 years.
PNG Union Mission president Kepsi Elaido said the titles would come under the Papua New Guinea Adventist Association.
“It was a struggle for more many years until now that we see the fruits of our efforts and this will further boost church’s initiative to develop the land for the benefit of all,” he said.
Elaido assured Rosso that the church would work with the government as a development partner to improve the community.
“The spiritual aspect of the people is very important and when they have that love for God through the church’s teachings, there will always be value to life and that will bring peace to people,” he said.
Morobe Mission president Blasius Managos said with the land titles secured, they would look at building a new church, a pastor’s house and a community multi-purpose hall.
He assured Rosso that the Morobe Mission would work with his office and the Lae development authority to partner in development.
Rosso acknowledged the hard work of church elders in finally acquiring the titles to the land.
