Minister signs writs for Motu-Koitabu LLG election

SEVENTEEN writs have been signed by Inter-government Relation Minister Kevin Isifu for the Motu-Koitabu local-level government assembly elections in the National Capital District.
The writs were issued for 14 council seats, two seats for women representatives and one for the chairman’s seat. The Limited Preference Voting (LPV) system will be used.
Isifu called on Motu-Koitabuans to take ownership of the elections and elect their representatives in a peaceful and democratic manner so that the leaders elected could improve their lives.
He told the Electoral Commission that he expected the return of writs on Oct 20.
Nominations began and will close next Thursday at 4pm.
Campaigning also started yesterday and will end on Sept 28. Polling is from Sept 29 to Oct 13.
Counting will be from Oct 14 to 20. Returning Officer Terrence Hetinu said the nomination fee was K1000 for all candidates contesting the women, ward and chairman’s seats.
Deposit forms can be collected at the Electoral Commission Office in Boroko.
