THE Enga Mioks board have expressed concern with the venue of their Round 11 match this weekend.
Mioks chairman Philip Kepson  appealed to the PNG National Rugby league chairman Sudhir Guru to change the venue for Sunday’s game against the Goroka Lahanis which is scheduled to be played in Goroka.
Kepson said safety was the main  reason behind their request.
He said with the recent student unrest at the University of Goroka and the threat to Enga students there by certain elements of the local Goroka community and the student body, the Mioks were concerned opportunists could use their game to intimidate and threaten them.
“It was confirmed that the fight at the UOG campus attracted locals from the nearby villages that allegedly assisted Eastern Highlands and Chimbu students to attack students from Enga, Western Highlands, Jiwaka, Southern Highlands and Hela,” Kepson said.
Kepson said with the siutaion still tense in Goroka, Digicel Cup organisers needed to take those considerations into account and move the clash to a neutral venue such as Lae or Port Moresby.
