THE Enga Mioks are aiming to add a piece of silverware to their cabinet when they take on the Hela Wigmen in their round 15 Digicel Cup clash in Wabag on Sunday.
The Agiru Memorial Cup will be on offer apart from the competition points.
Mioks coach Timothy Lepa said the Agiru Cup would be a great addition to his team’s achievements in 2018.
“The Mioks and Wigmen are neighbours and the Agiru Cup is something Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas has initiated to be played between the provinces,” Lepa said.
“While we‘re focused getting the win for our Digicel Cup standing winning the Agiru Cup is also very important for us.
“Winning the Agiru Cup will promote a friendly rivalry between and we beat them 18-14 in round 6 in Port Moresby so they will be keen to get the win,” Lepa said.
“Our preparations have been good and we are aiming to build momentum heading into the finals.”
Lepa said even though the Wigmen had patchy form coming into the match at Aipus Oval, they were a side that could not be underestimated.
“It’s an important match for us because we want to finish on top of the standings and claim the minor premiership. We won’t underestimate them.”
The Wigmen are in fifth spot but will need to win in order to maintain their spot.
