THE Papua New Guinea -Australia HIV/AIDS programme is running a two-day poster art training/workshop with a group of disadvantaged youths at the Port Moresby City Mission Farm in Mirigeda, outside the city.
The theme for these workshops is reducing HIV stigma and it aims at imparting basic skills on producing poster art and increasing the group’s awareness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS.
The workshops started on Monday and ends today.
Mobile company Digicel supported the programme by sponsoring 20 T-shirts and 20 back-to-school packs for participants to wear during the workshop.
Digicel’s IT help desk manager, Kawaiwan Yai Pupu, who is an artist herself, took time out yesterday to be one of the participants of the programme tutoring the young boys on the basics of painting.
The programme is one of the lead-up events to the World AIDS Day that Digicel was supporting Dec 1.
Digicel has been behind HIV/AIDS awareness programmes since 2007.
