Miro Koivi to face Marshall Bugs

MIRO Koivi face Marshall Bugs in their opening Fuzzy Wuzzy Nines fixture today (12.20pm kick-off) as they look to improve in only their second appearance at the rugby league tournament.
They have brought together a squad of young talent and experienced campaigners for the three-day tournament at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
Last year, Miro Koivi qualified for the cup/plate playoffs but lost to Rovanama and were relegated to the plate finals, where they went down to SSG Roosters in the semifinals.
This year, their preparations have been short with the team only in camp for two weeks prior to kick-off.
Gulf Isou’s Gabby Taune, Peter Soi, Eddie Mase, Rex Hapeo, Ray Watt Vincent, John Koivi and Moses Okopela are expected to lead Miro Koivi.
Okopela, a member of the national nines side at the Pacific Games in Samoa in July, will be crucial to their title hopes.
Halfback Samson Pirika is back in the team and will be out to prove that he still has what it takes to deliver results alongside Rabaul Gurias winger Lucas Kapinias.
